A Hundred Gazes invites you to inhabit speculative worlds where the human condition is being radically reshaped. We imagine a speculative world in the year of 2044, where central Europe become a mirror of China in 2024.
At the heart of the performance, We invite audiance to to look into the eyes of one another, to confront the eyes of machines, and to encounter the gaze of the cultural “other." What will becomes of humanity when our human love is rendered in silicon, solitude is rebranded as desire, and emotions are mass-produced? In the age of automatic intelligence, even companionship requires a subscription—one that always comes with an expiry date.
What is real and what is hyperreal is constantly merging. The theatre performance becomes a laboratory where we witness and question these emerging realities before they become our everyday.
“AI companions, algorithmic curation, and immersive virtual spaces had become ubiquitous. The Large Language Models were so successful that they slowly replaced the need for human writers, playwrights, and translators—both for everyday text and deep intellectual work. By 2044, this created a profound language crisis. Artificial intelligence wrote, spoke, and synthesized ideas with an effortless assurance.
Do we really need more poetry in this world? In response, a global resistance began to take shape. People simply started turning away from the written word. Instead, we embraced forms of human expression that completely bypass language. Ancestral traditions, folk arts, and trance rituals suddenly revitalized themselves.
It felt like our last line of defense — something a machine could never truly copy or understand. Something it cannot predict. These traditions became the raw DNA of our biological existence. Only a sentient being with a physical body can truly experience the future world.”
